The recipe has a tradition that is already over 700 years old and is still very popular during Christmas. Originally, the popular Christmas biscuit is a special bread made by monks and was only baked in December before Christmas eve.
Tradition says that the shape of the "Christstollen" with its white powder sugar coat symbolizes the Christ child wrapped in white towels.
